David Becker, BA LLB, is an
internationally qualified lawyer specialising in the entertainment
industry. He has extensive experience advising on a cross-selection
of events ranging from high profile events - such as the Rugby World
Cup 2003, the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race, Nike Run London,
the MOBO Music Awards, the Sports Industry Awards, the Laureus World
Sports Awards and the Paralympic World Cup - to exhibitions, conferences
and weddings.
David is ranked as a leader in the field of sports
law in the 2005 Chambers Legal Directory and is listed in the 2004
edition of the Legal 500’s Who’s Who in The Law. He
has lectured on sports law and contributed chapters to the sports
law textbook Sport: Law and Practice, by Taylor & Lewis (Butterworths,
2003).
He appears regularly on BBC radio and TV as an
expert in the field of sports law, and has commented on high profile
matters involving Chelsea Football Club, the UEFA Cup, the English
Football Association, tennis player Greg Rusedski and Olympic sprinter
Dwain Chambers to name a few.
In his spare time David enjoys competing in endurance
events. He has represented his native Western Province at squash,
run the 7-day Marathon des Sables (Sahara Ultramarathon) and competed
in the World Memory Championships and Mind Sports Olympiad.Born
in South Africa and based in London, David is a partner with the
law firm Collyer-Bristow.
